Covid-19 Updates

Dear Heritage Family,

As we continue to move through the events now confronting our nation and world. We are going to do our part here at Heritage Church to mitigate the spread of the novel Corona virus Covid-19. As you know many of the measures being recommended or required by law exist to protect the most vulnerable among us. The elderly and those who have pre-existing conditions or are immunosuppressed. Therefore we are taking the following actions:

1. All non-worship activities will be canceled or postponed until at least April 15th. This includes CARE and Youth Fellowship, and the Palm Sunday brunch which will be rescheduled.

2. The Wellness Center will be closed during this time, following the recommendation of Governor Tom Wolf.

3. We will provide worship on-line this Sunday, so please be on the lookout for ways you will be able to participate in this (Video/Audio Library). Worship is central to the life of our congregation so as of now, we will be operating on a week to week basis regarding how it is to be implemented and participated in.

4. We will be offering guidelines and recommendations for how we can care for one another during this time. Please be on the lookout for those.

5. My plan is to be in touch with each family in the church over the coming week, to check in, and to be in prayer for each of you.

6. During the week, our sanctuary will be open if you would like to come and pray. We will have devotionals and resources available beginning Tuesday to aid in these efforts. Please practice safe social distancing as you do this.

During times of crisis, throughout the last 2,000 years, the church has always been on the forefront of seeking ways to care for one another and the world. Even in times when the church itself was persecuted millennia ago, we found ways to care for the poor, weak, orphaned, widowed, and sick. We must continue to do this now. We all know the people in our spheres who are struggling. We know our neighbors who, because of national origin, may be experiencing a greater sense of isolation in this crisis. Please check in with your neighbors, at least by phone, or while practicing safe social distancing, to see if there is anything that we can share during this time. More than anything we are called to be united in prayer for our world. I want to share a quote from my colleague and friend Ted Martin, “It is the church’s mission to be engaged with the community for the common good. As we unite in prayer, strategizing and coordinating resources, the church radiates the message of Christ’s love in the face of chaotic and fearful times.”

Blessings to you All,
Rev. Dr. Brian Janssen
